Mensa New Zealand has a number of child members with ages currently ranging from four to thirteen. MNZ provides a regular online coffee group for parents of child members for advice and the fostering of friendships for those on similar journeys with their gifted child.
How to get tested:
-
The standard Mensa New Zealand Incorporated admission test can be administered to anyone 10 years of age or older. For details of testing events near you please visit the testing page of the website.
-
For children under 10 years old admission to Mensa is on the basis of "prior evidence" that the child has an IQ in the top 2%. This is provided by a suitably accredited assessor / psychologist and then reviewed and approved by our National Supervisory Psychologist.
Provided below are the names of assessors who have agreed to be listed on our site and have had previous assessments accepted for Mensa admission.
Please note these individuals and organisations charge for their services. It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that the services are appropriate to the needs of the child and make any necessary enquires into skills or background of the assessor.
Where the assessment indicates that the child's IQ is in the top 2% they can then apply for membership.
